1. Ready in five minutes

  1. Create a free account at nextkon.de/konto and confirm it.
  2. In “My NextKon”, open the NextKon VOD tile – you'll land in your admin without a second password. Your trial access is ready immediately (2 GB storage, 60 video minutes, 14 days).
  3. Upload a video and choose its visibility – after conversion, copy the link or embed code. Done.
For your event or on a permanent basis we unlock more storage and minutes. Your videos, links and embeds are kept.

2. Uploading a video

  1. Admin → “Upload a video” → choose a video file (MP4, MOV and other common formats, up to 50 GB per file).
  2. Optionally enter a title (otherwise the file name is used) and choose the visibility.
  3. “Upload” – the bar shows the progress. The file goes directly and encrypted into our storage in Frankfurt, in parts and several at once; even large recordings upload quickly this way.

Please keep the window open while uploading. Beforehand we check whether storage and minutes are sufficient – if not, you'll get a clear message.

3. Conversion

After uploading, we automatically convert the video into three quality levels (1080p, 720p, 480p) and create a thumbnail. The player picks the right level for each device and connection – from the conference room screen to a phone on the train.

StatusMeaning
uploadingthe file is arriving
converting …usually much faster than the running time of the video; the list updates itself
readythe video can be played, link and embed code are available
errorthe file could not be converted (e.g. damaged) – please export it again or let us know

4. Visibility

SettingWho can see the video?
In the video librarylisted in your public video library and reachable via link and embed
Link onlynot in the library – only people with the link or embed (good for attendee emails)
Privateonly you in the admin, e.g. until the speaker has approved it

You can change the visibility at any time – just click “Save”.

5. Your video library

At vod.nextkon.de/<your-organisation>/ all videos set to “In the video library” appear as tiles with thumbnail and running time; one click opens the video page with player and description. The admin shows the exact link at the top.

Under “Language of your video library” in the admin you choose whether your viewers see the library page and player texts in German or English. A link with ?lang=en or ?lang=de always shows that language.

6. Link and embedding

<iframe src="https://vod.nextkon.de/einbetten/your-organisation/video-id" width="960" height="540"
        style="max-width:100%;aspect-ratio:16/9;height:auto;border:0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The player adapts to the width of your page and runs in every current browser on PC, tablet and phone.

10. GDPR-compliant and cookie-free

The video library, video page and embedded player set no cookies and load nothing from third-party servers – we even serve the playback software ourselves. Videos, backups and admin are hosted by Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The original files are never publicly accessible, only the converted versions via the player.

As the organiser, you are responsible for the videos (e.g. speakers' consent to the recording); we process them on your behalf. You receive the data processing agreement when your access is activated (as with NextKon Chat).

11. Frequently asked questions

How long does conversion take?

Usually less than the video itself – a 75-second video was ready in 30 seconds; a 30-minute talk typically takes a few minutes.

How many viewers can watch at the same time?

Delivery runs over a large content delivery network – many simultaneous viewers are no problem.

Can viewers download the videos?

No, they are streamed. If you need a download version, please talk to us.

What happens when the trial ends?

Videos remain available in the admin for another 30 days; after that we delete them – unless you activate a package beforehand.
